Outline and introduction Blue was never found in nature in the Ancient times. Very obviously, it is the colour of the horizon, the never-ending sky, the sea and our Earth from the space. Somehow it seems forever out of reach. This phenomenon has captured my imagination, and indeed it may have made many humans think deeply in the ancient times, when they did not have a strong true-blue pigment. Modern science and technology have made it possible to recreate the lost Egyptian blue pigment in present day creative practice. This is significant because it may present opportunities for creating dyes which are more sustainable than modern chemicals. In future, it might open new ways for not only creative practitioners but also in the scientific field.
